Just the word can create heart palpitations in some folks.
The hustle and bustle and stress and buying and decorating and cooking and eating and partying and wrapping and singing and rushing and baking. Need I go on? No wonder for some of us the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, can be an overwhelming four or five weeks of stress, instead of a peace on earth, blessed, joyful time.
If you can relate...I want to offer a challenge. This year, let's invite Jesus into our season. Let's allow Him to guide us in everything from our calendars, to our menus, to our gift giving. Let's seek Him about what His will is for us in the season of His coming. Let's just ask, and see what He says.
What if Jesus said, "I want you to be a conduit of my Presence this Thanksgiving and Christmas season." Would you be available? His Presence is a pretty powerful thing...are you up to the challenge of taking it wherever you go this season?
- To your in-laws house?
- To your dysfunctional extended family gathering?
- To your neighbor's house?
- To your kid's classroom party?
- To the overworked cashier at Hallmark?
Christmas is all about Jesus coming to earth to do a new thing and breathing His salvation into our life. We should be singing from the rooftops during the next few weeks! Folks should witness us celebrating in such a state of gratitude and love for what He came for, that they are asking us where we find such joy.
This may seem impossible for some of you, as I realize this time of year can be hard. Going to family gatherings are not fun, but exhausting and frustrating because of fractured relationships. Perhaps sadness seems to tag alongside of you during this time of year. Maybe loneliness is your constant companion.
The enemy loves to see you suffer. Especially during the season of Christ's birth.
What do you think about turning the tables on him this year?
Why not invite Jesus, right now, into your season. Open your heart to His joy and constant peace and determine in your soul to be a catalyst for His Presence to flow through you.
Watch out...you may have to answer for your new found demeanor and attitude! Folks are going to want to know the reason behind your peace and joy. Be ready with the answer...
Jesus....He has made me new this year.
