I don't know about you but people can do all kinds of things to me; but they take a shot at my kids and the "Momma Bear" comes out......fast! I bet you are the same. That is our God given instinct.....to protect.....from all forms of hurt and destruction.
The truth is, our children do have an enemy, in 1 Peter 5:8-9 states, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith...."
At times, this seems daunting but the good news is; we don't have to go it alone! We have the ultimate Protector on our side. God promises to be a shield about us, to be a stronghold, to be a shelter in times of trials. These promises spur us on as mother's to extend that protection over our children in His name!
How do we do this?
Through PRAYER: My Mother taught me this principle over the years.....she was the protector of the hearts of her two daughters......through prayer. She was the ultimate prayer warrior! She was always alert....standing firm.
I knew every single morning, by the time my feet hit the floor, my mother had already called my name to the Lord and she covered me with her prayers. She didn't waiver in this post, she was steady, consistent and alert for her children......always. Just a few short weeks ago, before she met Jesus, she put her hands on me and prayed over me. One particular day, we laid in bed together and she asked to pray with me.....she was in excruciating pain but still very aware of the need and power of her prayers for her children. She never left her post!
Just a little side note for you......you too were the recipient of my Mother's prayers....little did you know but she daily prayed for those of you who read our blog.....anyone attached to her children were attached to her.
Through the WORD: Mom was also a lover of the Word of God. She would read, memorize, meditate, study (like concordance kind of study), and use it in her prayers. She was the first one to teach me to love the Word and trust it fully. She was the one who prayed the Word over us and our lives.....giving us unseen protection from the enemy of our souls.
Now, this is my post.....as a Momma it's my job to pick up the mantle and continue to employ the mighty power of the Word and Prayer on my children's behalf. It's my duty to cover them with a hedge of protection that is impenetrable.
So, here's to the Mom's, to my precious mom, the warriors, who came before us, those who stand beside us, and to those we are raising up now.....that we know and use the tools God has given us to protect our children.
I hope you will get the Word out this week, place your children's names in the scriptures and speak/pray them over their precious lives.....over and over just like the warrior you were created to be.
