This basket isn't just for our family; anyone who enters our home is invited to participate. Just write a little note about what you are thankful for....write as many as you want. Then when we are all gathered around the Thanksgiving table we read through the papers and reflect on God's goodness to us.
I do ask my family to write a note daily. This helps us keep our minds on the good things in our lives, on our blessings, and on God's generosity. It helps us look for the gifts in each day.
Once Thanksgiving day is done I tuck these papers in an envelope and put them in my Fall bin in storage. It is so beautiful to read back through the previous years and see God's faithfulness to our family and friends. It is here that we are reminded of the answered prayers, the miracles and the times He has carried us through uncertain times. These are precious pieces of our lives that serve as a reminder of His unfailing love.
In the Word we are encouraged to declare His works in our lives...
"That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous works" Psalms 26:7
"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" 1 Thessalonians 5:18
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His mercy endures forever" Psalms 107:1
So go ahead and get your "Give Thanks" basket out and begin a new tradition!
We would also love for you to share your family traditions with our readers...go ahead and leave us a message!
