I was sharing this with Sean on our way to Best Buy last week to pick out a fridge. We went in with a certain amount in mind that we didn't want to exceed. We found one we liked and the salesman offered it to us, out the door, with the sticker price. Basically saving us the tax. Praise the Lord! Then he comes back with the news that they are out of stock and not getting any more in, but he would sell us the floor model for $250 less.
We go look the fridge over to see its condition and we find a big scratch on the front, near the bottom and a few other wear and tear items. Nothing huge. As we stood there debating back and forth, Sean finally said, "It's a big box to keep our food cold, over half the world doesn't even have access to such a thing, we're getting it and thanking God for the blessing of the savings!" We left the store paying $300 less than we had planned on. Uh, God is good.
On the way home, we were talking about the house thing again and Sean pointed out that perhaps God wants us to long for our real home, Heaven. Nothing here on earth will ever be perfect and He is constantly challenging us to be content with what He provides for us. We decided not to try buffing out any of the scratches, so every time we saw them we would be reminded of where our real home is.
When this world gets to be overwhelming or you find your mind wanting, wanting, wanting, remember....you are not home.....yet. Our real home will outshine this world unlike anything we could ever imagine. I can't wait to get there!
Have an awesome week.
