In the gospel of Mark, chapter 5, Jesus says something very profound to Jairus, who had just received the news of his daughter's death.
Jesus was on his way to heal Jairus' daughter when a woman pushed through the crowd and touched his garment and was healed. Jesus stopped to see who had touched him. When she fell at His feet, he gently and sweetly assured her it was her faith that had healed her.
Can't you just see Jesus kneeling down to where she was and gently lifting her face with his hands to look into her eyes. He loved her so much. He was so happy for her faith that had made her whole.
As Jesus was finishing up his conversation with her, he overheard Jairus' servants come up and tell him that his daughter was dead and there was no reason for Jesus to come.
The Word says, in verse 36, "Ignoring what they said, Jesus told Jarius, "Don't be afraid, just believe."
I love how the Word says "He ignored" what they said. I can just see Jesus stand up from ministering to the woman, turn his back on the servants, and look right at Jairus when he spoke to him. He ignored the report of death. He ignored the bad news. Instead He looked Jairus in the eye and instructed him not to be afraid, but to believe.
These words of Jesus are for us today. What are you facing in your life? What uncertainties are tormenting your mind and emotions? What are you losing sleep over? What are you worrying about?
Jesus is saying to you and me today...."(Your name), don't be afraid, just believe."
Don't look at your circumstances. Don't listen to the bad report. Don't believe all is lost.
Ignore what the enemy is whispering in your ear.
Believe Jesus is good. Believe Jesus is powerful. Believe Jesus is enough.
Don't be afraid, just believe.
Just keep repeating this. Let it go deep within you until you begin to let go of fear and grab hold of faith.
It's there you will find an Anchor that holds forever. Jesus is His name.
