I have never seen this more pronounced in his life than this past year. This man has walked a very difficult road with my mother's illness and now he has his own health issues. But you would never know it by talking with him. He is positive, looking toward the future, and excited about what each day will bring....trusting God's plan.
In our home, we work towards this type of mindset as well. It is actually a Biblical principle that is written in Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think about such things."
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "I call Heaven and Earth to witness against you today: I place before you Life and Death, Blessing and Curse. Choose life so that you and your children will live. And love God, your God, listening obediently to him, firmly embracing him. Oh yes, he is life itself, a long life settled on the soil that God, your God, promised to give your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
Proverbs 18:21 "Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit--you choose.
You see, we are to keep our minds on the things that are good, assume the best in people and in situations, look for and pray about positive outcomes, keep your mind on the power of God that lives within us, and trust the Lord for even the most outlandish things.
When we do this, we won't give the enemy a foothold into our minds. When we "take captive every thought," make a choice to trust the Lord and act accordingly, our whole demeanor will change, people will want to be with us, and actually our physical state will change. We will be more at peace, at rest, not so stressed.
So what do you need to choose today?
To believe the best in your spouse
To honor your spouse
To speak words of life and not death
To love on your kids and not criticize
To trust the Lord with your whole life and with every little situation in between
To love those who are hard to love
To let some things go.....others' actions and words
To honor our bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit
To believe in healing
To love fully
Today is brief.....choose your actions, thoughts, and feelings that align with the Word and the Holy Spirit. Start believing that "I am doing great! Why would I choose anything else?!"
