The truth is, I don't always have to share or have a comment and "they" certainly don't want my suggestions....possibly just a listening ear. Actually, if I am always talking, I very likely am getting in the way of the Holy Spirit's work.
Recently, I have been reminded of this by the Holy Spirit in a couple of situations. Also, I've had two friends call in the past few weeks asking for prayer to keep their thoughts to themselves. So, I am guessing the three of us are not alone....maybe you struggle with this as well.
Here are a couple of scriptures that immediately came to mind in each of those situations. When I am in a moment where I have to make a choice between speaking or allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work....I pray these over myself (or the situation) and place my name in there. The truth of the Word being spoken over a situation will always bear better results than my flesh working it out on it's own! :
"Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the doors of my lips." Psalm 141:3
"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:18
So, the next time you are feeling the need to share/guide/comment, quickly ask the Lord to to guide the conversation and you...then allow Him time to move. You'll love the results!
