By God's design, our men are wired differently than us....on many levels. But today I want to encourage you in one area....the area of "his eyes." During each day, our men are bombarded with 1,000's of images that are imprinted on his mind. Mark Driscoll in Real Marriage talks about how a wife that is "visually generous" helps her man out tremendously in combating these images. Yes, worldly images are creating a battle for our men!
When I read and hear that, I want to be the image that is in his mind the most, the image that brings the most pleasurable thoughts, the image that keeps him engaged in our life and marriage! I want to fight for my man.....the world can't have him - I want to help make our marriage easier for him.
This is also where my comfort zone is pushed and I become uncomfortable. But, God calls us to "Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." Romans 12:10 NLT
So, practically what does that mean? Ladies, that means - get rid of those over-sized clothes - wear clothes that fit around your curves, get rid of those PJ pants and T-shirt and put on something that shows more skin - a lot more skin. Or don't change for bed before he is in the room, don't put your clothes on immediately after you shower, or keep the lights on during intimacy.
Listen - I am NOT your frilly, lingerie kind of gal....we don't have to be! Just think less is best!
For some of us....that strikes fear deep down. We can make 100's of excuses as to why this is a bad idea. I'm too cold, when I lose weight, he isn't interested anymore, I'm too tired etc... But that's exactly what the enemy wants you to think! Take those thoughts captive and think of your man and his needs!
Your man WANTS to look at you and you alone - he would love to have those kinds of images running through his mind all day but you have to step outside of your comfort zone and honor him in this area. Ask God to help you in this area.....He wants your marriage thriving! And at the end of the day, it's a choice that we make to place his needs above our comfort.....taking delight in honoring our man.
So, our challenge is this.....Be visually generous for your man this week!
Give us a shout out if you are willing to take the challenge - we'd love to hear from you!
