Kalimi. She lives in the middle east and is a Christian among a mostly Muslim culture.
In the last four years she has suffered. Greatly. Two of her four children died in an accident. That same year, her husband suffered two heart attacks, leaving him unable to work. She took a job as a housekeeper for a Muslim family. They constantly taunted her about her faith and daily the man of the house tried to convert her to Islam. Then one day he attacked her and raped her. Then soon after, he beat her up and raped her again.
As I sat in my comfortable chair, in my lovely home, with my healthy kids and money in my bank account, I prayed.
I prayed for Kalimi, my sister in Christ. My sister....in Christ Jesus. My heart ached for her and what she has had to endure. But she is not complaining...she is following Christ, no matter what the cost. The article tells of her Friday habit of fasting and praying as thanksgiving to the Lord.
Her story has challenged me today. It challenges me to think about my "struggles" in a new light. It reminds me in a big way that I have nothing, absolutely nothing to complain about. Even though I have needs and am asking God for some miracles in my life, I haven't had to endure and suffer as Kalimi.
I am sure you have needs in your own life today. Stuff that is really important to you. There are some of you who have suffered great loss and your heart is broken, as Kalimi's is.
Just as Jesus has been there for Kalimi, He is there for you too. I don't always understand why suffering has to take place, but Jesus never leaves or forsakes us and is ALWAYS with us in the middle of it.
So join me in praying for Kalimi and I will lift you and yours up too. Asking God to pour out His presence on your life and be your greatest Help.
