We began to talk about this habit and its consequences. A light bulb went on for both of us as we discussed how when we go silent in our relationship with God, we also silence our most dangerous weapon we have against the enemy. Our tongue.
The enemy does not read our thoughts. He can’t, he is not omniscient like God. He only knows how we are doing by what is coming out of our mouth. If we shut down to God, the enemy knows it…and he loves it.
When we go silent with God, we are no longer worshipping, no longer praising, no longer speaking life, no longer speaking the Word of God.
Why do we go silent? Why do we pull away? God is so trustworthy. He is our most trusted friend. He is our greatest cheerleader. He does not cause hard things to happen, but out of His love, He does allow us to walk through difficult seasons…but never to leave us. He promises to stay, and to never leave our side, carrying us if needed.
I don’t know about you, but I never want to make the enemy smile. Never want to make his job easy. I want him frustrated over my faith, my trust, and my relationship with God.
So silence is not an option. Shutting down is not the road I will choose. I will choose to praise, choose to worship, choose to speak the Word. I will choose to believe God is good and He is with me and available to me as my biggest Help and Advocate.
Are you with me? :)
