By the time I had made it past the waves I was so off course I had to swim against the current to go around the buoy.....my energy was gone, my mindset was dismal, and my spirit was questioning if I could make it.
Have you been there? Maybe not in the ocean swimming but in life. There are times in our lives where we feel the angry waves, the wind blowing, and we find ourselves way off course. You see it only takes a small miss-calculation, or a really hard storm, and within a short period of time we are so far from our true course.
Have you ever thought, "I will dig in, I can do this, if I just work harder at this....I will succeed." When all we really need is to stop, sit back and truly assess where we are, what the conditions of the storm are, and set ourselves on the true course.....keeping our eyes on Jesus.
He is our course and the Word is our guide. But all too often we get so caught up in the craziness of life, working so hard to keep our head above water that we get off course.
Just recently, I have realized that I have been "swimming" so hard to stay afloat that I have missed the buoy and I am a bit off course. So this week I am assessing, or re-calibrating my life.....getting back to the basics that will keep me heading on His course.....not fighting this life or this storm on my own. I am looking to Him through the Word and prayer to get back on course. And I already feel better, less pressure, more at peace with it all!
So are you swimming against the current? Are you working so hard to stay afloat that you have missed the course? Is your head down, paddling so hard that the current has swept you away? If so, He wants to gently adjust the rudder, be the lighthouse to your course and get you safely home.
Elizabeth and I would count it an honor to pray with you and agree with you about getting back on course. Please let us know how we can pray for you!
