What consumes us? Or uses us up? Leaving us void and distracted from Him.
- The want of more
- Social Media
- Addictions to food, smoking, alcohol, pills
- Fill in the blank ___________
Lamentations 3 tells us that BECAUSE of the Lord's LOVE for us.....we are NOT consumed because His compassions, His mercies NEVER fail.
THAT IS A POWERFUL KIND OF LOVE.
Sometimes we get stuck. We find ourselves waist high in some of the items mentioned above and we want to be free from them, but we are not sure how.
Through God's love, by leaning into Him, listening to His voice, we receive His compassions. It's His compassions that help us move out of the bondage we are in.
It's the action of us leaning in and listening. This is where we often times fail. We try to act in our own strength and bypass Him. This never works when it comes to being free from the torments of the enemy.
The enemy wants us consumed. God wants us free. The enemy will convince us that freedom is impossible and not worth the effort. God says " I love you, you are not consumed by anything too powerful for my hand. Come unto Me and I will help you. I will bring freedom. Say to yourself, "The Lord is my portion"....and wait for Me."
I love verse 24 of Lamentations 3....."I WILL say to myself, "The Lord is my Portion."
It takes an act of our will to obey.....to say to our flesh, "Hey flesh....back off....the Lord is my strength and my portion...The Lord God is in control....not you!"
I was encouraging a young gal last night with this very thought as she was going on her first twenty four hours without a cigarette. I told her she would not be able to free herself from the addiction to nicotine and all the habits that go along with smoking, but that God could. He had so much more to offer her than a cigarette did.
Think about what consumes you.....God is your Portion today. He has everything you need and more to set you free ... declare today ... "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him."
And let freedom begin.
As always, Tracie and I are here to stand with you in prayer...please let us know if we can pray with you about anything you might need.
