I want to be clear...this is not about a size or a number on the scale. This is not about our outward appearance at all. This is really about living life to the fullest and with a purpose. You see, God designed each one of us with a purpose in mind. He has great plans for each of us, work for us to do, people to touch and love on. He wants to use us on a daily basis for His Kingdom.
2 Corinthians 5:20 "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."
The truth is, when we are tired, sluggish and running on empty we can't fulfill that purpose well....we can't be Christ's ambassadors. Oh how I want to live well in order to be used by Him!
Culture says it's all about how thin we are, how muscular, how appealing we look. As a Christ follower it is about an act of worship and obedience... it IS a spiritual issue.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body."
2 Corinthians 7:1 "With promises like this to pull us on, dear friends, let's make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let's make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God."
So, my goals in this area aren't written about numbers or sizes but in steps of obedience. Daily asking for strength and the power to walk in obedience with every choice I make. To put my flesh and my desires for unhealthy food and the lack of activity/movement in their rightful place...under His authority. I know He will give me what it takes to walk in obedience.
Philippians 2:13 "For it is God working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him."
My prayer for you, and for me, is that He would renew our mind, we would give this area of our life over to Him fully, live in obedience, and be rejuvenated to live out His purpose every day. Because, that's what it's really all about!
