So how do we go about encouraging, exhorting, and cheering on someone in their struggles without taking over and "doing" too much? This is the question. It's a tough one to answer. For me, I have to step back and ask the Lord what He wants my participation to be and then move forward or backwards, depending on what He says.
I know at times, I "over help" and it doesn't require the person to "feel" the need to do for themselves. When I back away, I have watched them step up to the plate and do what is necessary. Turns out, I was the stumbling block to growth, even when I was acting with good intent.
So I ask you, whose "ranch" are you in? Have you stayed too long? Perhaps it's time to return to your own ranch. I'm back in mine right now, and it feels good to be home.
